COBE was founded in 2005. The internationally operating office is based in COpenhagen and BErlin. The two architects Dan Stubbergaard and Vanessa Miriam Carlow lead COBE.
COBE focuses on work in complex urban conditions. Our competences include the physical realization of architecture, strategic urban planning, urban and landscape design, and research.
COBE explores the most interesting and challenging conditions in contemporary cities. In our work we seek to develop specific and innovative solutions for every single assignment. We are convinced that teamwork, trans-disciplinary collaboration, the earliest involvement of clients into the design process, and participatory planning are essential for innovative and sustainable projects.
COBE’s designs strive for the best combination of dense urban milieus, high quality open spaces and integrated sustainability. We believe sustainability is not a future possibility, but today’s necessity. In COBE’s work sustainability is a built-in opportunity, a design tool and a serious approach to develop the cities, landscapes and building types of the future.
COBE believes in sympathetic and sensitive solutions with respect for existing qualities and potentials. Our approach to planning is therefore to be visionary in the ambition, insightful and dialogic in the process and responsible and sympathetic in the result.
COBE engages in teaching, research, workshops and lecturing. In combining academic with office work we aim at continuously enlarging our knowledge and improving our skills within architecture and planning.
