Berger Arquitectos

Founded in 1991 in Lisbon - Portugal, Berger Arquitectos starts as a result of the combined experience of Francisco José Gentil Berger, Ph.D. in Architecture by (FAUTL), with over twenty years of professional practice at the time, and his son and partner, Miguel Berger, Master in Architecture, by the same University. In 2008 the Practice celebrated the 40th anniversary of it´s founder and mentor early designs, and 20 years of work together, between Francisco and Miguel Berger. Other Architects and professionals also added their contributions to the group, forming a multidisciplinary structure with great skills in a creative plan and superior technical qualification. Since 2008 Nuno Fialho, Architect also by FAUTL, joined the team as partner, after several years of valued collaboration. In Berger Arquitectos we believe that projects give substance to ideas and wills, and mediate the passage between the realm of the volatile and the ethereal things, and the world of matter, qualify buildings, and serving as a driving force for a coherent and sustainable development. We are able to develop work with very different complexity and dimension, from urban planning and urban design, to the detail of a single piece, including of course, all scales of architecture scope. Since 2006 we are focused on the work that we are developing in Angola. The construction of the Luanda Multisport Pavilion that sheltered the World Rink Hockey Championship in 2013, is our best known project, that was recently “Highly Commended” in the World Architecture Festival (WAF) in Singapore, in the complete building sports category. Our activity also involves other environments like Portugal, Macau, Mozambique, Namibia, and São Tomé e Principe, helping to create the international and transnational framework that runs through our society, modern, cosmopolitan and global.
