010110 (pronounced 'one-one-ten') is a Lethbridge Alberta-based architecture collective conceived by founding architect David Spencer Court on the first day of January, 2010. Named after the abbreviated time-code or moniker of that inception date, 010110 is an emerging force for architecture based in Alberta, Canada. As a core atelier practice and collective of experienced architects, designers and collaborators, our unified team philosophy is to explore diverse themes of architectural practice, theory and research through armatures of built and un-built work. Our projects represent deliberate responses to diverse cultural landscapes as open participants and citizens of the public realm. Our work provides opportunities to re-interpret architecture and contribute to transformative cultural exchanges through projects in various growth centres. Our projects attempt to situate new experiences within urban and rural (even wilderness) environments to create architectural solutions that emerge from their specific context, time and place. 010110's design approach emphasizes integrated planning processes to provide clarity and achieve consensus for a project vision. We value technical proficiency and 'architectural effectiveness' in design concepts and invest in a professional understanding of new construction methods and means, materials research and emerging modalities of implementation for better building outcomes and long term performance. Our experience crosses all scales of complexity, project types and institutions in the professional realms of architecture, urbanism, environmental design and planning.
