ABF-lab is a french designers collective founded in 2011 and based in Paris. It’s a think & do tank, investigating new practices, bridging the gap between architecture and engineering from the early stages of a project. The lab operates as an incubator of new ideas at the edges of engineering, numerical calculation and architectural design, combining art, science and technology needed by its constructive alchemy. Also, our approach is greatly influenced by finiteness of resources, reduction in energy consumption, physical ambiances, historical, cultural, climatic context of the sites and local construction techniques. Our wish to put the discipline of architecture and engineering together is reflected in the diversity of profiles that make up the agency. By Its complementarity and multidisciplinary, ABF-lab offers a comprehensive and unique vision from early stages to detail design. Our diverse professional collaborations have brought us to understand and produce in detail a quality contemporary architecture, well thought out, properly assembled and sustainable. We focus on iterative process within the team : we compare, test and make strategic choices. Our production method requires computer skills (3D geometry, numerical simulations) in relation to physical models and drawings.
