Soroker Agmon Nordman

SOROKER-AGMON-NORDMAN OFFICES TELL A TALE OF A PRESTIGIOUS LAW FIRM THAT IS ALSO YOUNG, DYNAMIC AND SURPRISING The elongated structure made it possible for the firm's owners to divide the office into two distinct areas – an area that is designated for the managing and senior partners and an area for junior lawyers and interns. While the space speaks a coherent visual language, the division is apparent through the design choices. The partners' area is more distinguished and luxurious while the juniors' area is less formal with a younger, more playful design. The client's brief was to create a formal yet contemporary environment that matches the patent law field. The look was achieved by using warm, industrial and "crude" materials &n... Mehr

Steel Stacks

On a commercial lot, an existing, single-story building was in disarray and disrepair. Seattle-based Hybrid was approached by the owner to partner on a redevelopment plan to tap into the lot’s high potential–creating four spacious homes, each with a flex space for extra income or living space. These are not your average townhomes; with a striking corten exterior and close connection to a new cafe, the homes were designed to stand out while rooting into the street and neighborhood. In addition to the flex space, Steel Stacks offers a private yard, tall ceilings, lots of light, and a spacious, enclosed rooftop deck, or skyroom.  Seattle is experiencing urban flight–prospective homeowners attracted to the elements of su... Diderot University Restaurant

This site, chosen for the Grenoble campus in the early 1960s, was well outside the city, on a wooded terrain with beautiful view of the mountains. Several emblematic university buildings were built in this privileged environment, some of which have since been listed as 20th-century heritage buildings for their architectural qualities, chiefly among which the use of concrete. Facing these buildings, remarkable from the point of view of their design, the Diderot restaurant honors this ensemble, enriching the architectural language of its surroundings by strengthening the dialog between the various projects on the site. The building’s simple and easy to read architectural language is mostly transparent on the ground floor thanks to broa... Mehr

Kua Bay Residence

Situated along a rugged stretch of coastline, the family retreat embraces the spirit of Mauka-Makai—the symbolic flow of lava from mountain to sea—through its direct connections to the volcanic landscape and dramatic vistas of the Pacific Ocean. Kua Bay Residence’s site captures the stark contrasts between land and sea in the Hawaiian topography. On the mountain side of the property, dark lava formations create a dramatic backdrop. On the ocean side, the immediate adjacency to the turquoise oceanfront makes you feel as if you are standing on the edge of the earth. The challenge was to manipulate the site so that the buildings would blend with the landscape while providing a graceful and multi-layered experience from mounta... Mehr

Daroco Restaurant

Conception , manufacture and installation of lightweight mirror ceiling frames Situated on the site of the former Zebra Square, the exceptional 430 square metre space has been entirely redesigned by the architect Olivier Delannoy of the REINH agency, who has already created the chic and uncluttered design of Daroco Bourse. While the iconic mirrored ceilings are still there, the place has found its own identity by combining a harmonious mix of materials (Brass, Corten Steel, Granite) with a huge blue fresco signed by the tattoo artist Supakitch. We wished to take the statutory character of the building out of its complexes and give the existing place back the letters of nobility of its postmodern vocabulary. Tend the curves, reveal the obl... Mehr

Atelier-r weaves corten steel routes through 14th century castle ruin

Atelier-r renovated the palace by adding a new roof and weaved new sightseeing routes through already existing gaps in the ruin. BoysPlayNice The new contemporary elements are kept clearly visible. Helfštýn Castle Palace Reconstruction

Cultural HeritageRising high above the Moravian Gate valley, Helfštýn Castle is the second largest complex in the Czech Republic right after Prague Castle. Helfštýn was established in the 14th century. In 2014 the Renaissance palace ruins had to close down due to the severe safety hazards such as falling masonry and remains degradation. The primary requirement of the castle owner; Olomouc Region, was to renovate the palace along with the construction of a new roof. The National Heritage Institute insisted on the preservation of the building in the state of a ruin. The roof was allowed only partially, and it could only go as high as the level of the peripheral walls. The project planning was rather unique. The 3... Mehr

Surrender

Time is the rarest commodity. So little do we set aside for simply being, to surrender to its passing.  It is with this notion we created a family beach home on Figure Eight Island, NC. In order to reach this condition of stasis, balance must be achieved; just as the wind and sea coalesce to create a dune. We sought a similar equilibrium in all aspects of the design, between sanctuary and transparency, novelty and timelessness, organic and refined. Through this parity we hoped to make a place of meaning, to create a home called Surrender. In her program, the owner asked for both gracious and airy spaces for family gatherings, as well as places of sanctuary, capturing the calming sensory experiences of nature.  In order to truly... Steel Craft House reveals the design potential of corten steel

In Utrecht, the Steel Craft houses stylizes the features of a working-class home with a corten steel façade designed by Zecc Architecten. An abstraction in material, features such as traditional a roof cowl with dormer and a chimney are translated into steel. Stylistic elements like a plinth, alternating stone bands, brick-on-edge courses, and cornices can also be found in the steel sheet patterns. Credit: Stijnstijl Fotografie The colour of the corten, which refers to the patina of the archetypical Dutch brick, together with the stylized forms creates a distinct architecture that at the same time merges with the neighbouring brick residential buildings.   Credit: Stijnstijl Fotografie Windows in the new façad... Steel Craft House

In a period of ten years, a former garage was converted into a wooden residence with a Corten steel façade. It was a challenging task where good cooperation, perseverance, and love for the craft led to an incredible end result. Zecc designed the façade, the clients realised the entire project themselves with the assistance of befriended craftsmen. Every steel sheet and every oak slat literally passed hands several times. In the Steel Craft House, the stylistic features of a working-class house were revamped. The residence strongly stands out in abstraction and material, but it is in keeping with the adjacent buildings through shape, composition, and detail. Features like the characteristic façade layout, the roof cowl... Mehr
